Featured Applications and Markets
RF1 Series
Market & Application:
Food & Beverage: Switching of heaters in boiler tanks
Issue:
A reliable small SSR for mounting on coffee machine chassis required to switch one to eight 2 kW /230 VAC, separately controlled, boiler heaters with surrounding panel temperatures reaching ~45°C. Voltage from the control card is 8 VDC.
Solution:
The RF1A23L25, with a control voltage of 4.25-9.0 VDC, is chassis mountable and fits in the limited space. It’s been tested in the full ON state for 20 minutes until the set temperature was reached and then cycled to maintain it. Additional heatsinking was considered unnecessary.
Your Advantages for Choosing Carlo Gavazzi:
- Space optimisation by occupying 30% of the space of a standard hockey puck solution
- Long lifetime by reducing stress on the output chips and integrated overvoltage protection
- Conformance to EN 60335-1, necessary for appliances
RK Series
Market & Application:
Plastic & Rubber: Switching of heaters in rubber compression injection machines
Issue:
OEMs typically use 3-phase SSRs and need to design smaller panels to meet customers’ needs. A compact, reliable and cost effective industrial solution is required for machine stoppage, which is critical to productivity and quality of parts.
Solution:
The RK2 is a 2-pole SSR, 45mm wide, with integrated overvoltage protection to avoid breakdowns. The two poles switch through a common control making it ideal for economy switching of 3-phase loads when the point of star connected 3-phase loads is not connected to Neutral.
Your Advantages for Choosing Carlo Gavazzi:
- Space savings with width of 45mm compared to >100mm
- Cost effective economy switching only 2 switching poles for 3-phase loads
- Fewer downtimes with integrated protection for trouble free operation
RGC1A Series
Market & Application:
HVAC: Switching of Ambient Heaters
Issue:
Baseboard or ceiling heaters switch on and off according to temperature feedback. Mechanical contactors emit an irritating clicking sound with every switching cycle and space is very limited in the panel. A compact & quiet solution is required.
Solution:
There are no moving parts and no contacts in the RG design. The power semiconductors switch on and off according to the logic signal received from the temperature controller. In contrast with conventional SSRs, RG can switch up to 20AAC continuously in a width of only 17.5mm.
Your Advantages for Choosing Carlo Gavazzi:
- Reduced panel space for easier fitting and retrofitting SSRs
- Silent operation with no moving parts to cause irritating clicking sounds
- Power control with an analog input fed directly to the RGC
